This track is on special until the end of the month, in honor of Valentine's Day, interpreted in the broadest sense possible - all the way from amity between nations to what you might feel for your pet goldfish. Every bit counts. Of course, we especially DO love those who especially love our music. But, hey, we have to acknowledge, there's a lot of great competition out there - hats off to them; we love them, too!
It might not be professionally polished, but the circumstances under which we put it together, in early February, were very challenging. First, it never got above 50°F in the old café. I had to completely retune the piano. With only four tracks to use, I had to sing and play onto a single track, at the same time to be able give Rachel the tracks she needed for her accordion,
recorder and vocal additions.
Actually, it's only a short version of the song - a compromise made for Valentine's Day. The full version is more interesting, musically. We will take what we learned from the short version to do better justice to the full version.
lyrics
WHEN YOU'RE IN LOVE
When you’re in love, every day's a day in spring.
Strangers will greet you; the weather's great,
Whatever the weather may be.
A song of love is an easy song to sing -
The melody flows when you’re mind's on fire;
Your heart’s a balloon on a string.
You don't need much in your pocket
And, when you see clouds up above,
Those billows aren't laced with a lining of silver;
They're golden when you’re in love.
When you get up in the morning,
You’re always raring to go.
You change, overnight, without warning -
Your friends meet a “you” they don't know.
The eyes of love see a world in ways all new,
Where wishes turn trouble to fortune's smile,
And gray days to sunny and blue.
When the hand of love reaches out and favors you,
Don't even think; take a long, deep breath,
And hang on, whatever you do.
You don't need much in your pocket
And, when you see clouds up above,
Those billows aren't laced with a lining of silver;
They're golden when you’re in love!

With respect being a songwriter, as discouraging as my 49 years in USA have been, Rachel and I persevere, regardless. What
else do we have to offer to the world? Thankfully, we DO have a few supporters across the globe who buy these songs, either because they like them or to give our morale a boost. Thanks hugely, friends. Your support is critical to why we get up each morning and plug on....more
